Rebekah, thanks again for your time in New York.

As a follow up to your post. I've just resigned from my corporate job and I'm looking ahead for the first time with a great big smile on my face.

To taking the leap!

Great post Bek. I especially liked and laughed at your friend the lawyer, whose in their dream job. Startup life isn't all beer and skittles, so budding entrepreneurs need more than just a good idea. Start-up life isn't for everyone and many fail - its the resilient personalities that usually make it. But for those willing to persist and fight, it's one hell of a journey. So respect to the doctors and (unfortunately) lawyers who continue to make the world go round as well as the entrepreneurs who are trying to change it.

It's a good thing, then, that typical life in a startup is easy, fun, and relaxing.

Nothing I've ever heard of happening in a startup remotely compares to the huge stress and difficulty of quitting a job you hate, to do something you really want to do, while potentially disappointing your father and girlfriend.

I'm saddened to think about the all those potential iron-willed Bezoses (Bezeii?), Zuckerbergs, Pages and Brins that we are all missing out on because their grandmas and career guidance counsellors said that they didn't think that doing a startup ('whatever a "startup" is, dear') was a nice idea.

Great article Rebekah.

From my own experience procrastination can take many forms and one of those is 'what will others think'.

Given we are all living so much longer these days my advice would be to have a go; its the Australian way, right? There will never be a right time; we have to make that for ourselves and somehow, as if by magic when we step out of our comfort zone magic can happen.

I hope Mark does just that.

Cheers
