This is an interesting post, believe it or not I am never jealous of others or what they have or achieved. I am ambitious, though miss on the luck often. Connection? Do you need to compare yourself to others in order to be successful? The way I am; there is more than enough to work on within myself- to be envious or jealous of others.

By 2050 (hopefully) one may upload/download their consciousness into a supercomputer, so then you shall be eternal and have all eternity to either to work on being jealous. hmmmmmm. But then again you shall have all eternity to work on gratitude. what a choice, but then plenty of time for both emotions.

All you have to remember is what Woody Allen says. "80% of life, is just showin' up". I'd add - "at the right place at the right time". It's about luck, and luck is about putting yourself in front of the right waves at the right time. It's like surfing. Nothing more than that.

Coincidence? Yesterday I was listening to a Business Consulting Buzz podcast interview of Dong Green, Executive Director of the Napoleon Hill Foundation and he was talking about a similar thing, effectively that unless you are Bill Gates or Donald Trump, everyone has more than you.

I used to have a neighbour who was a flamenco fanatic. He took his son to Spain to be trained in flamenco guitar by the masters. I played various styles of guitar and would often pop over and he would ask me to play for him. I'd play the latest piece I had written or mastered and he would say something positive and then ask "Is that all you've got?" He would wind me up something chronic and I would go home and practice like mad until I had something new to show off, only to get the same response. he knew what he was doing. He was winding up my competitive nature to bring out the best in me.

I like your thoughts about gratitude. My daily to do list has a constant item in it. It says 'Be Grateful For Something'. Whatever I do in each day, I always linger on that task and make sure I am. There is always something to be grateful for no matter how tough things get.
