Hi Rebekah, very interesting article. Overall, I would agree NZers are very supportive and friendly towards start-ups (and frankly I feel the "tall poppy syndrome" people go on about is a load of rubbish, especially compared to the UK).

The only caveat for me and the start-up I'm involved in is people are almost too nice - they love to chat and tell you how great your software is but it actually becomes clear even to me sometimes that it isn't going to be relevant to fixing a problem for them. Sometimes some "harshness" can actually almost be a good thing!

Cheers

Hello Rebekah,

I've only just discovered this blog site of yours (and subsiquently Posse, just installing it on phone now). Really enjoying the tone and themes of your blogs, especially the blog on honesty in business and this blog of cause (also guilty of being a bit biased as I'm a Kiwi based in Wellington!)

I'm part of a wee start up (we're in beta atm) and it's inspiring seeing what you've achieved; number 5 on your list really resonated with me - sometimes glad for that one, because it does give you time to learn and grow. Thanks for the reads and the inspiration!

Cheers,
